I do not teach friction fire in a bushcraft context - there are plenty of skilled bushcraft practitioners already doing that. Currently there is very limited teaching of friction fire tailored for ritual/sacred/holistic practice which I am trying to address!
SHFF is fully inclusive and embraces people from all walks of life; abilities; backgrounds and celebrates diversity! Neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ friendly. SHFF encourages and champions communal fire welcoming - rubbing sticks does not have to be a solo challenge but a communal welcoming so yes everyone can get involved in rubbing sticks in some way ! It can be inclusive! |

A few previous examples of my offerings:
I have been sharing the skills and knowledge I have learnt since I first taught myself bow drill in 2014. I've taught many people informally and have held various talks and workshops for local groups in Bristol and as part of other events. Below are a few thing I have done over the years. I also like to work collaboratively with others who I "connect" with so do contact me if my work calls out to you. All of my collabs have started from someone asking me "would you be interested in doing?"
2023 - South West Heathens - welcoming the fire at the start of their Blot (ritual) in November. Hopefully, I will be participating in a few more rituals with this group and passing on my knowledge of ritually welcoming fire in 2024.
2023 - Nordic Animism - Rune Hjarnø Rasmussen of Nordic Animism came over from Denmark to visit me in the UK to learn about my approach and to make a video about sacred fire and Neid Fire. Keep an eye out on Nordic Animism's YouTube and Insta feed - the video will be coming out later in 2024.
2023 - Journey with Fire - Intro to Rubbing Sticks - I held a Journey with Fire experience teaching people my approach of friction fire and how to welcome fire through rubbing sticks.
