This would be a one day event covering the Neid Fire practice that was once used throughout UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Baltics and Slavs and mostly forgotten about buried in obscure books until now! Now is the time to reclaim our traditions and now in the time of climate emergency is the time we need ritual and Neid Fire more than ever. It is time to reconnect with the world, nature, ourselves and community.
This event would be for individuals and groups to learn about the Neid Fire so they could adopt it in their own practices.
The day would cover :
The history and folklore of the Neid Fire practice and use of the "fire churn"
The banning of the practice by The Church and it's "disappearance" from our culture
The importance of connection in this time of emergency
As a group making and using a fire churn
Discussing ways of using the churn, the time it takes to prepare, discussing how it can be used ritually
Ritually welcoming fire as a group using the fire churn
Cooking on the fire and eating communally to give thanks and offerings to the ancestral fire and our natural world
The day would also evolve in it's own way and include lots of open discussion.
This would be a one day event. If you or a group is interested please contact me to discuss further and pricing. For an individual or small group this could be held at SHFF or hosted by a larger group within Bristol area.
